Terms & Conditions

These Terms & Conditions apply to all bookings made from 19th October 2022 until further notice.

Individual bookings are confirmed only once full payment for the course has been made. Group bookings are confirmed once a 25% deposit has been made, the remainder being due 14 days before the course. Special terms may apply to groups if transport or meals form part of the booking.

If an individual cancels more than 28 days before the course, a full refund will be given. Cancellations less than 28 days before the course will not be refunded but can be moved to a later date.

If I cancel at any point, then a full refund will be given. I cannot refund any other expenses in connection with a cancelled course, for example accommodation, food or travel.

Group cancellation terms will depend upon any deposits paid to third party suppliers and be stated in the contract between the group and me.

A oourse may be cancelled if I consider that the forecast weather makes likely unacceptable dangers. Such dangers include high winds, thunderstorms and excessive heat. I will not cancel merely because rain is forecast.

Medical Conditions & Next of Kin

On receipt of your booking I will ask for details of any medical condition which may affect your ability to take part in the course. At the start of a course I will ask all participants to text me the first name and contact number of someone who should be notified in the event of an accident. I am registered with the Information Commissioner’s Office and therefore fully GDPR compliant.

I also hold a current REC Outdoor First Aid qualification.

Kit and Clothing

On confirmation of your booking I will email you an itinerary and a kit list. (Both of these an be requested before booking if desired.) The kit list contains advice on suitable clothing for the course. For most people this is common sense and up to the individual. However, I reserve the right to refuse participation to anyone I consider lacks suitable clothing and could thereby pose a danger to themselves and ultimately to others. In such circumstances no refund will be given.

Terrain, Hazards & Fitness

By its very nature a navigation course takes place in open countryside with uneven ground, mud, stiles and various other hazards. Occasionally roads and golf courses may need to be crossed. At all times you are asked to follow any reasonable instructions I may give you.

You must be fit enough to take part in the course. We walk at a pace of between 2 and 3 kilometres per hour over undulating terrain which might occasionally be steep for short distances. There will be plenty of breaks and we will never hurry. It is not a race! If you have any doubts about your fitness, please contact me.

Whilst most participants on these courses are adults, children (ie, under 18s) are very welcome if accompanied by a responsible parent or guardian who must remain with them at all times.

Much as I love dogs (we have two), some people don’t. Unfortunately, therefore, dogs cannot be brought on the courses.

You are responsible for getting yourself to the course on time. I cannot accept any responsibility for delays caused by transport cancellations or traffic jams etc. I will always endeavour to provide accurate parking instructions if you drive. It is your responsibility, however, to check that you are parked legally and have paid any necessary parking charges. I can also not accept any responsibility for the safety of your vehicle while you are away from it.

Covid & Other Pandemics

In the event an outbreak of any pandemic I will follow all government advice on the recommended precautions.

If you have any complaints about the course, please contact me in the first instance as soon as possible and I will endeavour to sort the matter out fully.

If you have a complaint about one of my NNAS courses, you can in addition file an official complaint with the NNAS.
